Seeing Spots

Shirt, Skirt: J. Crew Factory, Belt: H&M, Socks: F21, Shoes: Topshop, Necklace: J. Crew

I started school this week. One usually expects the first week of school to be rather easy – light on the homework right? Wrong! At the end of my first week I will have read about a total of 11 hours. My brain hurts guys, not figuratively, literally – it's painful. And as a result, my vision may or may not be impaired. After reading small print for so long I started seeing spots. Maybe that's why this outfit happened, spots just seemed natural.

A Day at the Market

On Saturday morning I went to the farmer's market in SLC with my Mama. I loved it!

1-Handmade jewelry.
2-Fresh mint limeade...I was skeptical at first, but it was amazing!
3-Running into my good friend Kate – SO good to see her!
4-The fresh veggies Mama bought were deliciously cooked by her for Sunday dinner.
5-Ruby Snap Cookies = my new fave.
6-Gorgeous flowers.
7-Carbivore heaven. I almost died.
8-My farmer's market sunflowers at home and on the table.

Summer BBQ's

As the end of summer rolled in we celebrated our last weekend at a BBQ with our friends. It was filled with juicy burgers, watermelon, gooey s'mores, and good times. We're so thankful for good friends! Love  you guys!

Mind Your P's

Shirt: Old Navy (Similar), Skirt: J. Crew Factory, Shoes: H&M
Purse: Michael Kors via T.J. Maxx, Necklace: J. Crew via ebay, Watch: Michael Kors,

You know that saying, Mind your P's and Q's? Well thanks to some of the cute fashion trends lately, I've been minding my "fashion P's": polka dot, pencil skirt, paisley, and pointy toed. I love mixing trends, especially when it means mixing prints!

The Faces of Bikram Yoga

Thank you so much for all of your love and support on yesterdays post. It really means a lot. I said I wanted to share more of my real self with you guys. So, here goes.

Looks pretty legit right? Yea, well this is what google considers to be the faces of Bikram Yoga. And this, my friends, is what the real faces of Bikram Yoga look like. Prepare yourselves.

This is what I've been in a sauna for an hour and a half trying to fold my body up like a pretzel looks like – or just death. But a strange kind of I worked my body so hard I am reborn kind of death. This is my second time within a week at Bikram. We have a very strange relationship, yoga and I. In the middle of the 90 minute session I sort of feel like I just stepped out of a bath in the lake of fire and brimstone in the middle of the land of Hades. Sweat isn't just dripping off my nose anymore, there is a small pond forming around me. The deep humming-like exhales that made me giggle at the beginning of class are now loudest coming from me and they are the only thing keeping me standing. Sounds awful right?
But strangely enough, I absolutely love going to Bikram Yoga. It's long enough to seem like purgatory, hotter than hades, and yet so refreshing. I love coming out of class feeling like I've pushed my body to a new limit. I honestly feel like I'm achieving mountains in just one class. I don't exactly look or smell my best afterwards, but I just feel so fantastic. So, if you've never been to Bikram Yoga because you've never heard of it or you'd just rather not sentence yourself to what seems like ten years in Dante's Inferno, push yourself to try something new. I promise, the results are worth it.

Changes

I started Classy Confessions as a place where I could have fun, make friends, grow as an individual, and most importantly, just be myself. But lately, I don't feel like the Megan on the Internets is a true reflection of real-life Megan. Yes, this is a fashion blog of sorts. And yes, I love fashion. But it's not the center of my whole world. While I do love getting dressed and accessorizing up a storm, it's just not who I am every day. Truth be told, feeling like I have to look fashion-blog-ready every day stresses me out.
Fashion is certainly wonderful. I think getting dressed and feeling good about myself is very important. yet, there are so many other parts of life that are as equally or more wonderful, and I want to focus on those as well. So, there will be a few slight changes around here – nothing drastic. Outfit posts will still happen, but just not quite as frequently as they have been. I hope to share more about our life and who we really are. So you can expect a lot of food, funnies (we think we're funny), Winston, my beautiful husband (chimes in Andy), family, and friends – and whatever else life throws at us.

Loud and Proud

Shirt: J. Crew Factory, Pants: H&M, Shoes: Topshop, Necklace: J. Crew

People often tell me they could never pull off some of the things I wear. My response is always, yes – yes you can! It all comes down to confidence. You can pull off whatever you want to pull off. If you think you look cute then believe it! No matter what! Some of my outfits are loud and bright, and they occasionally draw some raised eyebrow looks... mainly these pants on campus. One kid asked me if it was hawaiian day. I don't exactly think these are a hawaiian floral print, but he did? Whatevs. I love these pants and I think they are simply smashing. So if you think something is smashing, but are afraid of what others might think, brush it off and embrace that smashing article of clothing!

This Shirt

Blouse: Apricot Lane Boutique, Skirt: J. Crew, Shoes: DSW

Do you remember this shirt? I was in love with it when I first saw it and I'm still in love with it. I was looking forward to wearing it again and I got really excited when I saw how well it paired with this skirt. I definitely did a fist pump – tuck jump move. Do you ever do that – have a celebration dance when an outfit turns out the way you planned in your head or even better? I think some of my best moves take place in my closet.
Make sure to check out Apricot Lane on the web!

Unfortunately, their online shopping site is under construction, but for those of you living in Utah print this post and take it into the store for 50% off your next purchase! They have some fabulous pieces right now!

Neglected

Hi guys! Winston here, do you remember me? It's been a while since I've made an appearance here. I've been a little neglected and let me tell you, I'm not happy about it! Mom has been out of town for almost a whole month. And she didn't even take me with her! A dog like me could really use some nice quality time on the beach. I mean can you even imagine me catching those Cali waves? You should see me on the wake surf, I'm a natural. But for some reason she just wouldn't budge. She said something about never getting the sand out of my curls – who knows. So, I've just been hanging out at home, contemplating the meaning of life and taking A LOT of naps. Thankfully Dad has a lot of sympathy for me so he takes me to the Puppy Lounge occasionally. I think he is trying compensate for neglecting me, so I got the spa treatment. Yeah, legit right? I got groomed, my hair blown out, my nails clipped and filed, and my paws lotioned and softened... smooth as a baby's bottom. It's the least my parents could do after leaving me home so much!

Transitions

Shirt: Chill Boutique NYC, Pants: Borrowed from sis, Oxfords: Top Shop, Necklace: J. Crew

Transitions have always been hard for me. Going to middle school was very stressful and anxiety ridden. Yes – I was that kid. I was more than stoked to be a 'big kid', but I was also terrified of the unknown– it was bittersweet. Transitioning my wardrobe between seasons is also hard for me. Not so much because I'm afraid of the unknown (but what will I wear?!... Name that movie), but because I'm so excited to wear fall things. However, I'm not sure it's appropriate because it's still sweltering hot. So, I try to mix it up a bit. I add a few bright summery pieces with a fall piece and voila, I have a transition piece!
I tried to find the link to these lovely oxfords because I wanted to share them with you, but a link doesn't exist. If I find them, I'll be sure to share!
