A Bow and a Bun

Shirt: NYC Boutique, Skirt: H&M, Belt: F21, Jewelry: F21 and J. Crew, Lipstick: CoverGirl Fifth Avenue Fuchsia, Tights: T. J. Maxx, Shoes: Jessica Simpson

Bows and Buns scream femininity and the combination of the two together creates such a classy ensemble. I have always been a bow lover. I guess the love was instilled by my mother when I was just a young lass. My sisters and I grew up wearing bows bigger than our heads and the love never died. I am so glad big buns are in these days for three reasons:

1. They are elegant and beautiful.
2. They make getting ready so easy.
3. They prolong the amount of time I can go without washing my hair.

Don't worry, Andy always lets me know when I've taken it too far. Thank heavens for that boy, without him I just might turn into a greasy haired, bun loving, wacko.

A Russian Babushka

Winston wanted to join in oh so badly. How can anyone deny that little face of gold?

Hat, Gloves, Belt : H&M, Shirt and Sweater: J. Crew Factory, Pants: Unknown, Boots: Sorel via Nordstrom

This, my friends, is what I call my Russian Babushka outfit. Yes I know Babushkas historically wore headscarfs, but I just feel like I belong in Siberian Tundra. And sometimes campus feels like the Siberian Tundra. So what do I do? Gear up like a fur trapper. The combination of the fur boots, hat, and oven mitts often draw strange looks from fellow students and sometimes even laughter. And you know what I think? My ears are warm and toasty, my hands might even be sweating! And you my dear fellow students, are freezing. Who's laughing now?

*Disclaimer. I do not condone the slaughtering of animals. This is indeed faux fur my friends.

My Mother's Closet

Blouse: J. Crew Factory, Jacket: H&M, Pants: F21, Belt: H&M, Shoes: Jessica Simpson,
Purse: NYC Street Vendor, Glasses: Lookmatic, Jewelry: J. Crew, Nordstrom Rack

Much of what I'm wearing today came from my mother's closet. Yes, my mother has fabulous taste and great clothes! It hasn't been mentioned in previous My Sister's Closet posts, but my mom is always in on the clothing swap. I guess it's more of a one way swap- we usually just snag her clothes. If you saw her closet you would too! Needless to say, my mom is a fashionista!

When I saw this gorgeous purse I knew I needed to borrow it. Match it with a belt and lipstick and I was sure to stand out in any crowd. No kidding, I think these lips could be spotted from miles away! That is part of what makes this outfit so great, it's classy and chic with a punch of sassy boldness. What elements do you add to give your outfits that extra sass?

P.S. I finally got my hair done! You like? Goodbye natural melt. Hellooo fresh head blondie!

Equestrian Prep

Jacket: Ralph Lauren Factory, Shirt: J. Crew Factory, Pants: F21, Boots: Tory Burch

There is just something about the Equestrian look...I can't even name it. Those boots they wear, the blazer, the usually long, thick braid trailing out of the helmet. It's so preppy and classy. I love it. Aaand I try to mimic it- minus the helmet. As Old Spice would say, "Now i'm on a horse!" Have I ever ridden a horse? No. Do I want to? Absolutely. I've always dreamed of a romantic horse back ride that ends with a lovely picnic. (Hint hint, Andy!) But for now I'll just pretend and use the broom as my makeshift horse. You know you do it too!

Golden Slippers

Scarf: Ann Taylor Loft, Sweater: H&M, Belt: J. Crew, Pants: Unknown,
 Shoes: F21, Jewelry: J. Crew, F21

These shoes make me feel like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. They are glamorous and comfortable and maybe, just maybe, magical. Yes indeed I have clicked my heels together oft while wearing these beauties, but I have yet to do so while repeating three times "There's no place like home." I'm not sure if they would take me to Kansas or back to my own abode. Returning to the warm comfort of my bed would be nice. I don't know what would await me in Kansas, but I sure would enjoy a nice vacation. Winston could even sub in as Toto! And Andy could be a munchkin...Ha! Nevertheless, I love these sparkly, spiffy oxfords no matter where they take me!

Sleeping In

Shirt: Ralph Lauren, Sweater: Madewell, Pants: Unknown,
Socks: Husband's, Boots: Steve Madden

Sometimes there is just nothing better than sleeping in. Especially when it means extra snuggle time with the big, warm, friendly giant with whom I share a bed. He's like my own personal electric blanket. And let me tell you...It. Is. Awesome! Our church got moved to 11 A.M. which means Sundays are now designated sleep in days. As if Sundays couldn't get any better? I am now anxiously looking forward to every single one of them.

My Sister's Closet: Meet Macie

Shirt, Skirt: J. Crew Factory, Belt: Unknown, Tights: H&M, Shoes: Seychelles via Nordstrom, Necklace: F21

Hellooo ladies. Macie here. I am the amazing little sister of Megan and Mike. Don't be alarmed when you look at the pictures below... it's not on optical illusion involving Megan. It really is me. Megan told me I was to introduce myself and give a few fun facts so, here it goes!

My two favorite things are ice cream and clothes. My dad is at fault for the cream and my mom for the clothes.

I dance 24\7. I should just live in a loetard and tights because it would be so much more convienent.

Everyone in my family tries to tell me that I am a spit-fire. But they have it all wrong. This is how it really is:
              Garry: Studly man
              Cindy: Amazing little diva.
              Andrew: Handsome and "all knowing"
              Mike: Lovely Perfectionist
              Megan: Tender-hearted sweetheart
Macie: I am perfect. Hahahhahah just kidding. But really...

Along with these fun facts I was told to tell the inspiration for my attire. And to be dead honest, this is what my hands grabbed as I groggly got ready for church in ten minutes. Man oh man I am lucky it turned out like this. You should try it sometime and see what you get. But watch out, it doesnt always turn out pretty.

Inspiration

Scarf, Caridgan: J. Crew Outlet, Dress: Talbots, Belt: F21, Tights: T. J. Maxx, Shoes: Mia via DSW

The last time I wore this dress was to our wedding dinner the night before we got married. I have been wanting to wear it again for a while now, but wasn't quite sure how to without looking like a spring bride. Thankfully, I remembered some great blog posts from last week. In the most recent My Sister's Closet post, my sister Mike gave advice on how to winterize a summer dress, and Rachel, of The Pink Peonies, wore a great "white winter" outfit.  Using inspiration from them, I pulled together this lovely ensemble. I was pleasantly surprised with how it came together. Andy however, LOVED it. In his words, "You look like a freakin' supermodel"...followed by a bum squeeze. Wife points for me!!

P.S. Please excuse my horribly grown out roots. Contrary to what it looks like, I don't have a bad melt. I have a hair appointment next week. I am anxiously looking forward to it. Yay for new hair!

My Grandmother's Closet

Blouse: J. Crew, Necklace: F21, Pants: F21, Belt: J.Crew,
Shoes: Steve Madden via Zappos

Andy calls these my Grandma pants...I will have you know both of my Grandmothers are hip and happening and I would love to borrow their pants any time. These, however, are from Forever 21 and were a great deal. I don't know what it is, but there is just something about high waisted trousers. I love them! They are so cute and classy with a bit of vintage flair. So what if Andy thinks I look like a senior citizen? A very cute senior citizen to you sir!

A shout out to my wonderful cousin Emily, who took these pictures. Love you!

So you want to get to know us?

I have to excuse myself for having such bad manners! It's about time we properly introduce ourselves. I'm very sorry it has taken so long!

We are Andy and Megan and we are madly in love. We have been married about eight months and are just loving and learning in the life of the newlyweds.

We grew up just down the street from one another, but never really had much interaction. The summer after my sophomore year in high school and his graduation, he asked me out. We had a blast. We hung out all summer, were instant best friends, and fell head over heels for each other. We  dated for a year and then he moved to Norway to serve and LDS Mission. I missed him oh so much! We wrote letters and emails, and two years later were still crazy in love. On May 7, 2011 we were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple

Ages 16 and 18. Young and so in love.

Andy

Hi everybody, I'm Andy.  People find it difficult to see me sometimes when I am next to Megan, but if you would take your eyes off of her perfect being for one second, you might see me on the right or on the left.  Just look really close.  I love being married to Megan.  She is the best thing that has ever happened to me and let's just say I did what my mom told me and married up.  Megan is the classiest girl I know, and it makes things like getting dressed in the morning a breeze because I always make her pick my outfits (which I know she loves to do).  She is the best and I love her.  A little about me now, where to start?  I have been skiing since I was 2 years old and ski racing since I was 5.  Skiing has been my life.  I love any kind of sport from paint balling to soccer to wake boarding to football to skiing.  I play the violin and like to think that I can sing.  I love anything and everything Norwegian.  I have a huge family, because cousins aunts and uncles in my family are immediate family.  I love my parents.  My mom and dad are the greatest people I know and I have the greatest in-laws in the world.  Right now I am injured (my back) and so I have stopped ski racing and I am attending the University of Utah (I know, we are a house divided for a time) and Westminster College.  I am studying Biology in hopes of attending vet school and subsequently becoming a Vet.  I am also the photographer some of these recent post pictures.  I know, they look good!

Megan

I love Andy for his smashing good looks, keen sense of humor, kind heart, and his amazing ability to love everyone. I am truly the luckiest. I am a senior at Brigham Young University studying Humanities with an emphasis in English. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the BYU Cougarettes, a competitive dance team, which I LOVE! I get to spend time with some of the most beautiful, kind, and talented girls I have ever met. I have loving parents who have given so much support and are great examples of what I hope to have in a marriage and be as parents one day. I am the third of four children with an older brother(and wife), older sister(and husband) and one younger sister. I love my family oh so much! They are my best friends. I have an intense love affair with food...I like to eat everything and anything. Andy and I love to branch out and try new things so if you have found a place you are loving, please give a shout out. We'd love to try! I also love to read. Everything....okay not always text books and instruction manuals, but I love fiction, non-fiction, the classics, teenage love dramas, all of it. I'll suck up a good book in a day or less if I get the chance. And as you can tell, I love fashion. It's a way for me to express myself, try new things, and help others feel good about themselves and who they are.

Winston
Look at that face!

Nothing like lounging around

Like a baby

Always wants a bubble bath

Hi my name is Winston Churchill Phillips and I find it difficult to be focused on one thing for very long, so I'm going to keep this short! I was born last summer and first started remembering my mommy and daddy in August of 2011. I don't think my momma really liked me at first. I was really hyper and loved to chew on yummy things around the house, and sometimes when I had to go potty I just went.  I sniffed around and it seemed like the appropriate spot so I didn't see the big problem! I am getting really big (13 lbs) and I love snuggling when I am tired and eating and playing. I love my family. My favorite things are beef jerky, squeaky toys, bubble baths, and the puppy lounge.  My daddy tells me he takes me to the puppy lounge so that I can socialize with other dogs and not turn into a weirdo dog who barks and hates everyone!  I don't even know what socialize means, I just love to sniff other dogs butts.  I am probably the cutest thing in this world so I don't blame you if you want to stare at me.  Unfortunately this week my daddy told me he is taking me in for surgery.  Something about getting neutered.  I don't know what surgery or neutered means, but I think it is fun and there are treats!!!  Anyways I would love to show you my toys sometime so come visit!
