The Faces of Bikram Yoga

Thank you so much for all of your love and support on yesterdays post. It really means a lot. I said I wanted to share more of my real self with you guys. So, here goes.

Looks pretty legit right? Yea, well this is what google considers to be the faces of Bikram Yoga. And this, my friends, is what the real faces of Bikram Yoga look like. Prepare yourselves.

This is what I've been in a sauna for an hour and a half trying to fold my body up like a pretzel looks like – or just death. But a strange kind of I worked my body so hard I am reborn kind of death. This is my second time within a week at Bikram. We have a very strange relationship, yoga and I. In the middle of the 90 minute session I sort of feel like I just stepped out of a bath in the lake of fire and brimstone in the middle of the land of Hades. Sweat isn't just dripping off my nose anymore, there is a small pond forming around me. The deep humming-like exhales that made me giggle at the beginning of class are now loudest coming from me and they are the only thing keeping me standing. Sounds awful right?
But strangely enough, I absolutely love going to Bikram Yoga. It's long enough to seem like purgatory, hotter than hades, and yet so refreshing. I love coming out of class feeling like I've pushed my body to a new limit. I honestly feel like I'm achieving mountains in just one class. I don't exactly look or smell my best afterwards, but I just feel so fantastic. So, if you've never been to Bikram Yoga because you've never heard of it or you'd just rather not sentence yourself to what seems like ten years in Dante's Inferno, push yourself to try something new. I promise, the results are worth it.

  1. I've always wanted to try Bikram Yoga. I did yoga a lot in high school but as my wrists got worse (years of problems) I kind of stopped and started biking etc. But I miss it so.
